Can you even believe it? These little faces given to the world by Shigetaka Kurita has begun to take over the texting world from words. Over 10 billion emojis are sent everyday by the social media users, and 95% of internet users are having fun using emojis, especially ‘the face with tears of joy,’ 😂 which dominates the social media emoji language.

Lucy’s mind takes Okay with emoji and without emoji differently. James hardly uses any emoji. There is always a communication gap between people who use emojis and who don’t. Emojis convey the meaning of the texts in a better way. Sometimes, using wrong emojis by typo error could cost you a friend. (Be careful with its use 😂)

Emoji started as emoticons, where we have to search for characters on the keyboard to form a smiley. I was very happy when those little faces came into the picture of social media communication as I was not good at using emoticons. Now, emojis are used to communicate the human emotions via text messages.

Emojis play a crucial role in the texting world and now it is difficult to see a person who does not use an emoji. The millennial use emojis for every single text, and emojis have greater impact on human minds. The millennial even take emojis personally.

Look at the below conversation:

Lucy has used an emoji to end the conversation or perhaps, she did not know what to reply to Susan’s text or she was too polite to leave Susan’s text hanging. I too end conversations with emojis. Emojis help me when I want to change a boring conversation with my friend. Emojis have become my saviour in many situations. 😭

I use emojis when words fail me, that is, when words fail to express my feelings, I use emojis. The number of emojis I send shows the intensity of my feelings to my friends. The use of emojis is directly connected to the personality of a person. For instance, when a talkative extrovert person tries to convey his/her emotions, they have to send at least 5 or 6 crying emojis to show that they are very serious about it, but a person who does not express emotions frequently just need one smiley. Our friends compare our personality and emojis we send to understand us.

An emoji for a particular emotion are represented differently in each social media platform, and they are differently interpreted by users from different cultural, regional, or national background. So, the misinterpretations have become common now. I feel that emoji in WhatsApp conveys better than the emojis in other platforms, or perhaps, I am comfortable with WhatsApp emojis. My WhatsApp chat is like:
